USEPA SmartWay® Transport Partnership Rated “Outstanding”– This program is an innovative collaboration between the U.S. EPA and the freight industry to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution. Savage Safe Handling is a partner in this program and our fleet has received the USEPA’s highest rating for fuel efficiency, “Outstanding.”
US EPA SmartWay Grow & Go Program Charter Member - This program promotes the environmental benefits of renewable fuels. It aims to help reduce U.S. dependence on petroleum, and improve our environment by reducing emissions of harmful pollutants and greenhouse gases. Savage Safe Handling is a charter member of this program and has helped to promote the use of biodiesel across the country.
Maine Governor’s Carbon Challenge Top Performer - In 2001, the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers signed an agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2010 and to 10% below 1990 levels by 2020, with the goal of an overall 75% to 80% decrease from 2003 levels. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection partners with businesses and non-profit organizations to accomplish these goals. Savage Safe Handling has committed to and achieved the most aggressive carbon reduction goal in the governor’s program.
ISO 14001 – In addition to having ISO 9001 quality certification, Savage Safe Handling has also earned focuses ISO’s 14001 certification for its environmental management systems. Savage Safe Handling is one of 225 companies worldwide that have received both Responsible Care and ISO RC14001 joint certification.
American Chemical Council Responsible Care® Partner - Responsible Care® is the chemical industry’s global voluntary initiative under which companies, through their national associations, work together to continuously improve their environmental, health, safety and security performance. Savage Safe Handling is a certified Responsible Care® Partner.
Clean Air Cool Planet Partner (CA-CP) – CA-CP is the region's leading organization dedicated to finding and promoting solutions to global warming. Savage Safe Handling has been a CA-CP corporate partner since 2007.
Maine Clean Communities (MC2) Stakeholder –Maine Clean Communities is dedicated to expanding the use of alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuel, and reducing the use of petroleum for transportation. Savage Safe Handling serves on MC2’s Steering Committee.
